Androscoggin County Jail
Sheriff - Guy P. Desjardins
Commissary Information:
Androscoggin County Jail
accepts money for inmates in the form of money orders only. The
money orders are to be made out to the inmate directly, with your
name legibly written on the purchaser portion.
This will provide the inmate with funds on their inmate account, so that they may purchase commissary (food, hygiene items, and clothing), they may also purchase phone time, pay medical copay’s, get haircuts, etc. with this money. If you wish to see a sample of the commissary items allowed and there prices please click here.
You cannot directly buy
commissary items for an inmate; the facility provides assistance to
inmates if necessary. Inmates that do not have money on their
account will be considered indigent, and allowed hygiene items,
writing material, and one haircut every 60 days.
If an inmate wishes to
release money from their account or other property to a person on
the outside, the inmate must fill out a property release. To pick up
the items you must have of form of State Identification, or two
other forms of identification, such as social security card, birth
certificate, school identification, or passport.
After an inmate is released
they have 3 business days to pick up their commissary order or it
will be disposed of. When released from incarceration the remainder
of the inmate account funds will be given to them in the form of a
check, this includes money the inmate has placed on the phone.
