How Do I Have Someone Served ?
Answer:
Once you have obtained your paperwork, either on-line or from the Lewiston District Court, located at 71 Lisbon Street, Lewiston Maine. Complete all portions of your paperwork (except the return of service). You then need to make a copy for service. You can then either hand deliver your paperwork (copy & original) along with payment, to the Sheriff's Department during regular business hours, or you can mail it to:

Attn: Civil DivisionOn a separate sheet of paper, provide us with any other information that will assist us in getting your paper served. Such as a phone number for the party being served, where the party is employed, type and color of vehicle they drive. Information like this can be of great help to us.
Certain types of paperwork need to be served either 2, 7 or 10 days prior to the court date, so please get it to us as soon as you possibly can.

The Sheriff's Department Civil Office provides process service for the County. The business office is open to the public Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, except during holidays.
